Lacoste Challenge Launch

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Is really a coincidence, while others cover the booth of “soon LACOSTE Anakin Skywalker comes to the booth” with information. “LACOSTE”. I’d love to see it and LACOSTE booth. When you arrive at the front booth, occupying the front row of the 10 girls in their teens. LACOSTE. And only momently, LACOSTE were waiting for the new image model for men’s perfume. The front row is the rope had been extended, and almost anything you want in a girl shifted to the position of the rope in the stealing of a little booth staff. I know. But far too much BAREMASHITA. Back to back. They are great at giving up. Progress had been re-calculating.

The aim of all, LACOSTE perfume for men “LACOSTE CHALLENGE” image model HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN (Hayden Christensen). Star Wars, Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader when young) as you may know the role. Staff and spectators gathered in the actual interview everyone, “Anna was a child I come Kin! What did I name it is?” Situation. If you did not know even heard the name, please be assured. Many others.

All told to wait about 20 minutes. 3 SP tough people has arrived surrounded by Hayden Christensen.

Attendant (?), A man of cool, and wander about which is which. In this case, the front row of girls age 10 and IKKIRI light yellow to cheer up was
just practice. “KYA ~! ~!!”" KYA, look at me!”

Maine planning of this event was that of a perfume gift to the winner. Hayden Christensen’s Pick something that you mentioned the name on the back of postcards in advance.

This incident occurred. The winner of two events and not the venue. “If not next to the coffee!” That began with noisy venue, take in the phone, there is something OSAMARIMASHITA. Girls “to take picture, I want!” Disaffected. Certainly, if you have a direct hand in the perfume, you might want it for men.

Then, the much-awaited signing. 10. 10 girls in almost every age had received a shrewd signing. This power. I want it a little.

I only have 10 minutes to start, “now get back to” the voice of the fans of Hayden Christensen was left were surrounded by SP.

Here is a story of struggle when I took pictures. SP’s so well built, but they remarkably than Hayden Christensen in Maine when I took pictures.
I was embarrassed.

Hayden Christensen played for Lacoste Challenge

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

The three-time winner at Roland-Garros and the star of the trilogy “Star Wars” exchanged a few rounds to promote the new fragrance Lacoste.

Mats Wilander won a match on Thursday. Not at Roland Garros as in the best years that have enabled him to win the tournament in 1982, 1985 and 1988 but a few hundred meters away, on the courts of the Tennis Club de Paris. Wilander faced one who played Anakin Skywalker in the trilogy “Star Wars” by George Lucas, Hayden Christiensen. The two stars are in two tie-breaks to promote the new fragrance Lacoste Challenge. And logically, the Swede who won.

Settle In For A Weekend With MTV, ‘Star Wars’ And ‘Behind The Screen’

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

What are you doing this weekend? Actually, don’t answer that. I’ll tell you what you’re doing this weekend. As a Memorial Day weekend treat and lead-in to this Sunday’s episode of ‘Behind the Screen,’ MTV will be running all six “Star Wars” movies between Saturday and Monday. If you’ve seen George Lucas’s epic space fantasy, then you know exactly why you should be tuning in. If you don’t… well… here are all the reasons you need to settle in with some popcorn for a long, lazy weekend in front of the TV.

Darth Vader livesThe Fall of Anakin Skywalker

Hardcore “Star Wars” fans like me have some issues with George Lucas’s approach to the most recent trilogy, starting with 1999’s “The Phantom Menace.” Wherever your opinions fall with regards to the new movies, it’s hard to say a foul word against Anakin Skywalker’s (Hayden Christensen) beautifully orchestrated descent into the Dark Side of the Force. In addition to be able to witness the birth of Darth Vader, “Revenge of the Sith’s” climactic lightsaber duel between Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Skywalker, his former pupil, adds new context to “A New Hope’s” — the first movie released in the series — rematch saber duel.

Han Solo and ChewbaccaHan Solo and Chewbacca

Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and his Wookiee first mate Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) are truly a buddy duo for the ages. Han is an unabashed rogue, a charmer, gambler, smuggler, con artist and all-around scoundrel. The stream of arrogant bluster that issues forth from his mouth is so constant that you barely notice how unintelligible his pal Chewbacca is. Chewie is the duo’s heart, a big lug of a walking carpet who makes up for his language barriers with fiercely loyal actions.

Boba FettBoba Fett

The only thing cooler than a Jedi-killing bounty hunter is a Jedi-killing bounty hunter in Mandalorian armor. Boba Fett’s menacing appearance can be credited almost entirely to the ancient armor he wears, which is fully equipped with a jetpack, wrist-mounted rocket launcher and all manner of other gadgets. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that he carries a nasty-looking disintegrator blaster, or that he wears locks of Wookiee fur as trophies of his previous kills. Anyone who can take down multiple 6-plus-foot-tall humanoid beasts with sharp fangs and retractable claws is someone you should steer clear of. Unless you happen to be close to a Sarlacc Pit, that is.

Darth MaulDarth Maul

I’m not afraid to say that “Episode I: The Phantom Menace” is the worst of the six “Star Wars” movies. A lot of you will probably agree. I’m also not afraid to say that “Phantom” features the best of the movies’ lightsaber duels, even topping Yoda’s throwdown with Count Dooku (Christopher Lee) in “Episode II” and the Obi-Wan/Anakin showdown from “Episode III.” This has everything to do with “Phantom’s”Darth Maul (Ray Park), who wields a double-bladed lightsaber and a considerable array of martial arts skills. He takes on two Jedi at “Episode I’s” climax, both of them master swordsmen: Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson). The fight maintains a respectable action pace until its final moments, when Obi-Wan, stricken with grief, advances on Maul with unbound fury. It’s a standout moment for the series, and it even makes the otherwise unbearable “Phantom Menace” worth watching.

Lightsabers are coolLightsabers

Forget “Star Wars” for a moment. Lightsabers may very well be sci-fi’s single-coolest gadget, period. They appear to be little more than a long, metal cylinder; turn one on and a brightly colored energy blade issues forth from what turns out to be a sword hilt. Lightsabers are the trademark tools of the Jedi Order. There are scant few to be seen in the original trilogy, after the Order has fallen, but the newer trilogy serves up a lightsaber overload as we get to see Jedi Knights and Masters wielding the “elegant weapon” before the dark days of the Galactic Empire.

There’s one final reason you should tune in for this weekend’s “Star Wars” marathon on MTV. On Sunday night at 11pm, right after “Episode IV” ends, you’ll be able to get some insider Hollywood scoops on the latest episode of “Behind the Screen.” You’ll be able to catch “Land of the Lost” cast interviews with Will Ferrell and Danny McBride, the broadcast premiere of Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Brüno” trailer, a visit to the set of “Get Him to the Greek” with Russell Brand and two exclusive clip premieres, for Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” and Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” follow-up, “H2.” So tune in to MTV for an epic weekend of classic sci-fi and exclusive first looks.

New York, I love You: With Every Director Possible

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

What does it take to make a movie a mainstream hit? A star-studded cast? Check. Creative and unique story lines? Check. A directorial debut by Scarlett Johansson? Check. Following in the same unique structure of its unofficial predecessor, Paris, Je T’Aime, New York, I love you is comprised of 12 films that take place in the 5 boroughs of New York. Each film is different but they all have one thing in common; they are about finding love in New York.

New York, I love you has an all-star cast which includes Bradley Cooper, Justin Bartha, Andy Garcia, Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson, Natalie Portman, Irrfan Khan, Emilie Ohana, Orlando Bloom, Christina Ricci, Maggie Q, Ethan Hawke, Anton Yelchin, James Caan, Olivia Thilrlby, Blake Lively, Drea de Matteo, Julie Christie, John Hurt, Shia LaBeouf, Ugur Yucel, Taylor Geare, Carlos Acosta, Jacinda Barrett, Shu Qi, Burt Young, Chris Cooper, Robin Wright Penn, Eva Ammuri, Eli Wallach and Cloris Leachman.

The best part of the movie, other than the talented cast, is the fact that it is created by some of today’s most imaginative filmmakers from all over the word. For example, Jian Wen, Mira Nair, Shunji Iwai, Yvan Attal, Brett Ratner, Allen Hughes, Shekhar Khapur, Natalie Portman (another newbie in the directorial world), Fatih Akin, Joshua Marston and Randy Balsmyer. Each filmmaker brings to the movie, his or her own vision, his or her own take on love in New York.

On the other hand, having all those big name actors can take away from the message of the movie. People go to see the movie in order to catch a glimpse of Shia LaBeouf and Blake Lively more than for the love story line taking place on-screen. Then there are all the no-name stars who have to compete with these big stars and have to make their segments of the movie just as compelling for audience members.

Although, Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut was given the boot, according to producer Emmanuel Benbihy, because it was different and didn’t fit in with the rest of the movie; not because it was bad, you still have the star-studded cast and unique plot structure. The movie comes out on October 16th and is the second of a series of “Cities of Love” movies conceived by Benbihy.

Will the movie be a success? Only time can tell. Either way, this romantic drama will entertain you and give you a diverse take on love, from all five boroughs of New York. Source

UPDATE: Hayden Christensen Is NOT Starring In ‘Mandrake’

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Yesterday afternoon, word hit the wire that “Star Wars” prequel star Hayden Christensen had signed on for a live-action film based on the “Mandrake the Magician” comic strip created by Lee Falk. After speaking with a representative of Christensen, however, MTV News has been told that he is not attached to the “Mandrake” movie.

The initial announcement had claimed that Christensen and “Gladiator” actor Djimon Hounsou would have lead roles in a movie about the “underground magician and escapologist” who is approached by the CIA for a special operation. In a conversation with MTV News, Christensen’s representative denied the report, saying that the actor will not be starring in the film.

Little else is known about the “Mandrake” movie, which is currently scheduled for release in 2010. Movie site IMDB still lists the original actor announced for the lead role, Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Source

Hayden Christensen And Djimon Hounsou To Star In ‘Mandrake The Magician’ Adaptation

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

It turns out that Sci Fi Network’s revamp of “The Phantom” isn’t the only classic Lee Falk comic currently bouncing around a production workshop. Anakin Skywalker himself, Hayden Christensen, has now been announced as the lead in Mimi Leder’s “Mandrake,” based on Falk’s slightly less famous strip “Mandrake the Magician.”

The movie, co-starring Djimon Hounsou, will follow Christensen’s character, an “underground magician and escapologist” who is approached by the CIA to do some work after “a daring escape from an SUV that has been dropped out of an plane at the Burning Man Festival,” according to SuperHeroHype.com. Hounsou will presumably be taking on the role of Mandrake’s assistant, Lothar.

Mandrake and Lothar will be a familiar characters to any watchers of the 1986 cartoon series “Defenders of the Earth,” which starred the pair alongside Flash Gordon and The Phantom.

The top-hatted hero — and possibly his sidekick — will be tasked with breaking a deep-cover agent named Xi Shing Lung out from a heavily fortified prison in the new movie, and according to the film’s synopsis they’ll have to do it Jack Bauer-style with a 24-hour deadline. Everything, of course, will turn out to not be as it seems, and Mandrake will end up finding himself at odds with a government agency gone rotten.

Leder takes over the director’s seat which was previously reported to be filled by “Scorpion King” director Chuck Russell a couple of years ago.

Christensen, Hounsou to Star in Mandrake

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Hayden Christensen (Jumper, “Star Wars” prequels) and Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond, Amistad) will star in Mandrake, the adaptation of Lee Falk’s comic strip “Mandrake the Magician.”

Mimi Leder (Deep Impact, The Peacemaker) will directed the film, written by Josh Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly, JV Hart, and Ian Jeffers. The film is based on an original story by Kevin Bernhardt.

In the film, Jackson Mandrake lives life on the edge. Working as an underground magician and escapologist, his act has grown increasingly dangerous. Following a daring escape from an SUV that has been dropped out of an plane at the Burning Man Festival, he is coerced by the CIA into breaking a deep-cover agent named Xi Shing Lung out of a maximum security jail. Hypnosis, contortion, distraction and technical wizardry all come into play as Mandrake breaks the agent out from the inside within a 24-hour deadline.

But back on the outside, Mandrake learns that it was all a set-up. Xi is a CIA agent gone bad. He offers Mandrake the chance to join his crime ring. When Mandrake refuses, he’s a marked man. He must escape his would-be-killers and also the real CIA who accuse him of being in league with Xi. His quest to clear his name leads him into all sorts of dangers, which he must overcome with daredevil escapes that require all his conjuring skills. And along the way, Mandrake is forced to confront his past and the girl he left behind… Source

Hayden Christensen is MANDRAKE

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

‘Mandrake the Magician’ has been one of those projects that’s been in play for a long time and seen many false starts and backslides.

Today comes the stealth announcement that the project is once again showing signs of life.

We’ve learned that Mimi Leder (‘The Peacemaker’, ‘Deep Impact’) is now on board to direct the movie, which will star Hayden Crhistensen (‘Star Wars’) and Djimon Hounsou (‘Push’) as Mandrake and Lothar respectively.

Although the movie is based on Lee Falk’s classic comic strip, the fleet of screenwriters on the project (including Josh Oppenheimer, Thomas Dean Donnelly, JV Hart, Ian Jeffers and Kevin Bernhardt) have tweaked and modernized the concept considerably.

Here’s the description of the film:

“Jackson Mandrake lives life on the edge. Working as an underground magician and escapologist, his act has grown increasingly dangerous. Following a daring escape from an SUV that has been dropped out of an aeroplane at the Burning Man Festival, he is coerced by the CIA into breaking a deep-cover agent named Xi Shing Lung out of a maximum security jail. Hypnosis, contortion, distraction and technical wizardry all come into play as Mandrake breaks the agent out from the inside within a 24-hour deadline.

“But back on the outside, Mandrake learns that it was all a set-up. And along the way, Mandrake is forced to confront his past and the girl he left behind… ”

The film will be produced by China’s Tiger8 Production along with Omega Productions, Inc. Source

$150 mil Tiger fund finances China films

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

First project to be directed by Mimi Leder

China’s Tiger 8 Media and Wuxi Jinyuan Industry Investment and Development Co. closed its Tiger Portfolio Film Fund (TPF), a revolving $150 million production fund that’s primarily aimed at films to be made in China.

The Chinese city of Wuxi invested $50 million in equity and a private Chinese investor contributed gap financing. The debt facility was arranged by Standard Chartered Bank Hong Kong.

TPF’s first pic is a project formerly known as “Mandrake.” Pic, to be helmed by Mimi Leder and written by Kevin Bernhardt, will now be a more modern action-adventure that is no longer based on comicstrip character Mandrake the Magician.

Thesps Hayden Christensen and Djimon Hounsou are in negotiations to board the untitled film, which will lense in the mountain area of Shangri-la and in studios in Beijing.

Warner Bros. is in final negotiations for the domestic rights to the pic.

Producers include Howard and Karen Baldwin and Ashok Amritraj.

TPF is run by Justin Ackerman, Markus Barmettler and Sophie Xu. Omega Entertainment, headed by Peter Rogers and Tom Daniels, will handle TPF’s foreign and domestic sales.

Fund has a $300 million capacity for co-financing and could invest in some 16 films over five years.

“It is the first time Chinese and other investors have joined forces on a motion picture fund of this magnitude,” said Barmettler.

Warner’s distribution proxy Dan Feldman said he expects to “participate in TPF’s and Omega’s significant flow of upcoming productions.”

TPF will open offices in China and Los Angeles and is also involved with the development of a studio facility in the heart of Wuxi. The studios are part of China’s clear air initiatives to bring movie production and other industries to the Yangtze Triangle Region. Source

Movieline Interprets the Jack Abramoff Biopic Director’s Facebook Status Updates

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Factory Girl director George Hickenlooper is about to start shooting Casino Jack, a biopic about disgraced Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff, starring Kevin Spacey in the title role and Hayden Christensen as his associate, Mike Scanlon. Deadline Hollywood already toldjus!™ that Hickenlooper and Spacey had visited Abramoff in prison to discuss the project. Since then, via Facebook, we’re getting incremental updates on his progress. Let’s relive them, with commentary:

George Hickenlooper is delighted David Cross has joined the team.
May 2 at 12:26pm

Notes: Cross will play Adam Kidan, who partnered with Abramoff on the purchase of SunCruz Casinos. Kidan is currently serving 70 months in Elkton Federal Prison, where his penchant for showering in short-shorts fashioned out of an orange jumpsuit has given him the reputation for being the cellblock never-nude.

George Hickenlooper is all about the blue pages.
May 4 at 10:35am

Notes: Typically, once a script is locked for production, the first lot of revisions come on blue pages so the cast and crew can find them easily. In this case, however, Hickenlooper is referring to the government section of his telephone book, where you can learn so much about systematic corruption by simply letting your fingers do the walking!

George Hickenlooper doesn’t like that a horse shit writer for the Huffington Post is accusing me of committing a felony by visiting Abramoff in prison. Disgusting…
May 5 at 1:50pm

Notes: He’s referring to a HuffPo piece by Gary S. Chafetz, a former writer for the Boston Globe and the author of The Perfect Villain: John McCain and the Demonization of Lobbyist Jack Abramoff, in which Chafetz suggests visiting Abramoff in prison might have constituted a felony.

George Hickenlooper is now being told if he wants to sit with Abramoff again he needs to be interviewed by the FBI. This is not good.
May 5 at 4:32pm

Notes: His concerns are well-founded. The FBI famously waterboarded Oliver Stone two weeks into the JFK shoot, purely over his wardrobe choices for Jackie O’s signature pillbox hats.

George Hickenlooper has just been told by a reliable source that the author of the article in Huffington Post is widely considered a crackpot and the author of a competing Abramoff project. Par for the course. All this felony garbage is Much Ado About Nothing…
May 5 at 6:43pm

Notes: We’d have thought the home of Candy Spelling’s trenchant op-ed journalism (most recent post: “Is it Meshuga To Want My Daughter To Mesh?”) would have a more stringent contributor vetting process.

George Hickenlooper just found out this clown at Huffington Post approached our production last week trying to get us to read his book. We turned him down because we didn’t want to be exposed legally, or accused of taking from his undoubtedly ridiculous book. No wonder. He’s angry and today decided to take it out on us on HP. What a dick.
May 5 at 7:03pm

Notes: Seriously. That’s the last time we engage any of Mr. Chafetz’s invitations to poke him back or throw a SuperPoke sheep at him.

George Hickenlooper is fried from location scouting.
May 7 at 2:41pm ·

Notes: Likely came after a 45-minute argument with a production designer who insisted the SkyDome simply couldn’t be “dressed up to look like Cumberland Prison using $25,000’s worth of white draping fabric.”

George Hickenlooper is in the budget CRUNCH.
11:27am

Notes: Are you happy, now, Mr. Production Designer? You can kiss your white draping fabric goodbye.

George Hickenlooper is excited that Barry Pepper, Graham Greene, Rachel LaFevre and Kelly Preston are joining the team.
5:11pm

Notes: Seeing as they’re the frosh, Pepper and Greene should prepare for a merciless naked shaving-cream hazing at the hands of Spacey and Christensen, who’ve taken to calling each other “Spuds” and “The H-Man.”

Jumper Author Steven Gould Discusses Movie Sequel Possibilities

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Q: Jumper’s director, Doug Liman, said his goal was to subvert the superhero in creating a selfish protagonist. What was your goal with the book?

A: The character in the book is quite different. He’s in a pretty bad way in the sense that he’s this runaway teen with an abusive father — far more abusive than in the movie. So he’s desperate; he does steal from a bank initially, but he doesn’t keep stealing. But Liman really liked that self-interest thing that was going on in the beginning. In mine it was all a metaphor about escape. The kid has issues he needs to deal with, so no matter how far he runs he can’t teleport away from himself.

Q: How much control did you have over the script?

A: I got to read the scripts as it went along. One of the most interesting ones was a pretty dark script by the guy who did the adaptation for Fight Club. Among other things the other jumper is the bad guy. You get Griffin leading Davy down a dark direction before he finally finds his own sense of center. And then conflict ensues. The Palladins were there, so there were multiple bad guys, but the Griffin character was much darker.

Q: You wrote Griffin’s prequel story for the movie. Was it weird to write a novel for a movie that differed from your work so drastically?

A: It was interesting. What was hard about it was that it’s a very dark story. The character has to go through a lot. It starts when he’s 9 years old, and he goes through really bad stuff to become the character he is at the beginning of the movie. I’d written dark stuff in the past, but when you’re writing it and you get to a bad place, you can put it down and walk away. But because this book had to be done before the movie I could never back away.

Q: Where does all this trauma you put your characters through come from?

A: Well in the case of Davy, my father thank God has been sober for 30 years. But until I was in college he was an active alcoholic. Jumper is very much my self-therapy, my working on stuff that was true to me.

Q: What would you like to see happen in Jumper 2?

A: Liman has expressed a particular interest in an unspecified moment in the sequel Reflex, and I suspect it’s this twinning thing that Davy does, where he’s jumping to a place and back and forth to the point where he’s in both places at once, and a hole opens connecting the two places. So when he’s chained to a wall, he jumps back and forth to the ocean and all this water floods out of the hole. If ever there was a cinematic moment, that’s it. And then there’s this thing from Reflex where you have a very shadow-y Illuminati sort of government agency and they very much want to control jumpers. And that organization showed up in the scripts, but they ended up having to cut it because of budget. So that thread might show up.

Q: You write a lot of young adult scifi — and to an extent Jumper and Griffin are both YA stories. What’s the attraction for you?

A: Part of it is the fact that science fiction and fantasy are meaningless distinctions when it comes to writing YA. You’re not ghetto-ized, and you’re actually going to sell a lot better because bookstores don’t split YA into genre — it’s all mixed in there. I’ve always loved young adult — it’s what got me into science fiction in the first place, reading Heinlein’s young adult stories. And it was really a goal for me to write books that can be read by a wider audience.

Q: You just released a short story that ties into your next book about an infestation of metal-consuming bugs in the American southwest. What can you tell us about it?

A: It’s the ultimate terrorist incident — far more extreme than 9/11. But the bugs don’t eat humans, they just eat everything metallic, so you don’t have any technology. No knives or phones or cars, or certainly guns. And they react nastily if you try to destroy them. They swarm. Then after I write that, I’m going to write the next Jumper novel. At the end of Reflex Davy and Millie are making a concerted effort to have kids, so you can sort of figure out what it might be about…

Jumper Author Talks Movie, Book Sequels

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Despite bombing with the critics, Jumper, the 2007 movie about a teleporting asshole, was a modest success financially, and may get a sequel. Steven Gould, author of the original novel, has some ideas. Spoilers follow…

Gould wrote the young adult novel Jumper way back in 1992. He penned the sequel book Reflex in 2004 and also wrote the movie’s tie-in novel Jumper: Griffin’s Story. Although he was involved in the original movie’s production, director Doug Liman changed the story drastically, deliberately removing all the sympathetic aspects of the protagonist David Rice (Hayden Christensen) to subvert the superhero concept more fully (oh, so that’s what he was trying to do).

Though the movie failed to make back its $85 million budget domestically, it made well over $220 million worldwide, enough to warrant sequel talk. Liman has previously stated that he would want to use Reflex as the source material for the second film, focusing on expanding the Jumpers’ teleportation powers. The book also focuses on Rice’s girlfriend Millie, played by Rachel Bilson in the original film, gaining the ability to jump. Liman also mentioned he wanted to include new abilities like jumping to other planets and traveling through time.

In an interview yesterday, Gould updated what was going on with the sequel, noting what the director is honing in on from the source material:

Liman has expressed a particular interest in an unspecified moment in the sequel Reflex, and I suspect it’s this twinning thing that Davy does, where he’s jumping to a place and back and forth to the point where he’s in both places at once, and a hole opens connecting the two places.

OK, I’ll admit it - that sounds kind of cool. Utterly nonsensical, but cool. Still, we’re talking about the sequel to Jumper here. I’d say cool but nonsensical is a pretty decent level to shoot for.

Meanwhile, Gould also teased his next two books: an adult novel about a terrorist attack using bugs that eat anything metal but leave organic matter untouched - unless you try to destroy them, in which case they turn really nasty. And then he’s working on a third Jumper novel (or fourth, if you count Griffin’s Story), about Davy and Millie trying to have children.

The Wrestler Drives Vesper Lynd

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

The long-gestating remake of the British crime drama Mona Lisa, co-written and to be directed by Larry Clark, is reportedly set to finally begin shooting.

Production Weekly’s Twitter update claims that the Clark-directed version of Mona Lisa will film this September with Iron Man 2’s Mickey Rourke and Casino Royale’s Eva Green starring.

The project is an Americanized remake of the 1986 British film directed by Neil Jordan and produced by HandMade Films. Bob Hoskins starred as George, a London chauffeur who drives a high-class call girl Simone (Cathy Tyson). Michael Caine played Dinny, George’s old boss who hired him to drive Simone and to spy on one of her regulars.

There have been a number of actors associated with the remake over the years. Rosario Dawson was first said to be Clark’s choice to play the female lead in 2005 when the project was titled Shame. Most recently, Hayden Christensen was reported to be playing the male lead; it’s unclear whether Rourke has replaced him or if Rourke will play the Caine role instead.
