I rented it from iTunes last night! It was a really good movie. The cast was fantastic, the location was perfect for the ery feel they were going for and for once I wasn’t rolling my eyes at the script. I got freaked out about 7 minutes in and had to turn a lamp on :)

I can’t find any showtimes near my area. I even put the radius search on 250 miles and still nothing. I know I can see it on demand, but it’s more fun in he theater.

The movie has only been released in LA and New York, with further expansions in the coming weeks.

I saw the film at a pre screening and it was really good. I didn’t care for the ending too much but I won’t spoil it for anyone. Hayden was really good and the little guy, the Jacob is really good, you can’t even tell it’s his first film. I liked that it was a small number of actors so it gave you a chance to really focus on each of the performance.

I’ve been reading so many negative reviews about this movie. I don’t understand why! I’ve seen the film and it really isn’t as bad as these reviewers say!!! It’s a very dark, very pessimistic film, the acting is really good and there are some ingenious details throughout the scenes (won’t spoil it for people). I know the movie isn’t Oscar material, but most of these reviews are really harsh and unfair. =(
(IMDb users’ reviews are downright evil!!!)
    What do you guys think??

I completely agree celarent!! I’ve seen the film and it kept me interested until the very end. Was very intriguing and I loved the ending. I also think that Hayden, Thandie, John, and Jacob did a wonderful job acting. IMDB are nothing but jealous loosers who’s great accomplishment for the day is putting down someone else. I stopped visiting that site years ago. It’s gotten too negative.

I stopped reading reviews of Hayden’s movies a long time ago because they always tended to annoy me. Unfortunately there is a lot of negativity out there on the internet and this site seems to be a safe haven from it.

I agree with the last comment. DH is also gossip free which I like. If I want Hayden gossip I want to look for it instead of having it shoved in my face.

What negativity? Top critics have been giving it great reviews!

Since the metaphor of this movie is about death - the fact that there are no explanations as to when, where, and why it happens or what happens after death…there are also no explanations, necessarily, in the film. Hayden’s character is selfishly motivated but along the way he sees the need to change and produce right actions and right conduct which eventually expresses itself by going back for James at the church. Thandies’ character is that of mother and medical professional, torn by both. She is stuck in panic mode unable to move herself forward (thus the melodramatics). John’s character is one who never was able to enter the world of people and relationships. He is stuck in reverse and desperately wants to go back and try. All of them are completely in fear and unable to adjust to their new life scenerio. The only thing they can do is blab about guilt, dead batteries, and a generator they fear will shut down. While in reality they are in turmoil in the inner person and working this out within each personality is taking place without them even realizing it. I LOVED how you had to THINK about it, place yourself in that position and really try to understand where they were coming from. I think they all did a fantastic job as did Brad Anderson!

I completely agree Ruth!! I loved the film, I’ve seen it twice already through 2 special screenings. The second time I watched it I really fell in love with Hayden’s performance. I like how at first he comes off rather harsh to the other’s in the bar but then slowly as he realizes what’s happening, that hard shell begins to break and begins to show is true emotions. I think Hayden is excellent at tearing up and crying and making it look very beliveable, it’s not forced at all. I really liked the chemsitry between Hayden and Jacob. Overall the movie was really good, creepy but not scary and I actually researched the “Roanoke incident” pretty creepy.

I agree with lakeisha. I too didn’t care for the ending.

The performances were good, the mood was creepy, but I felt the story was weak. It just was too ambiguous and didn’t answer anything. I was disappointed :(
