Film shot in Detroit debuts at Toronto film festival
Toronto (WXYZ) – Hollywood traveled to Toronto for the 35th annual Toronto International Film Festival and Sunday night it was all about the cast of ‘Vanishing on 7th Street’.

Parts of the movie were shot at Channel 7!

Everyone came out for the big night, including actors Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton and Jacob Latimore.

Director Brad Anderson was thrilled to have shot the movie in Detroit.

He says, “The fact that we were able to close down entire blocks of the city and empty it of people and it’s cars and make it feel like an empty city, I don’t think we could’ve done that anywhere else.”

The movie is scheduled for an early 2011 release date. Story and Pictures by Erin Nicole at the Source

Pictures can be seen in the gallery, along with a few new HQ additions.

All Pumped Up for Horror

Posted by admin with Comments Off

Toronto Notebook: Thandie Newton & Hayden Christensen, All Pumped Up for Horror
Though they’re stalking the red carpet for Toronto’s Midnight Madness program with the creepy Vanishing on 7th Street, Thandie Newton and Hayden Christensen both have happy memories of Toronto.

Christensen also has a strong affinity for Toronto. “I grew up here, so this is home. I don’t get to spend an awful lot of time here, but I feel like I’m a true Torontonian at heart, so it’s nice that we have such a great festival here. The city really comes alive for it.”

Alive is good. Which brings us to the two stars’ film, Vanishing on 7th Street, where remaining among the living is a tricky business. A creepy low-budget horror film from director Brad Anderson, Vanishing is a spooky end-times scenario where nearly everyone has disappeared, shadows move with a life of their own and darkness comes on ready to kill.

As Christensen says, “I enjoy a good scare. But [Vanishing on 7th Street], for me, sort of goes beyond the genre and allows an audience to not be so overly manipulated and really kind of think about what they’re watching. This is my type of horror film.”

How do Newton and Christensen maintain their energy for extensive freak-out scenes of emotional intensity and terror? Newton laughs: “Emergen-C packets.” Christensen, linking motion and emotion, explains his method for madness: “Lots of pushups right before you shoot.” Newton agrees: “I was always jogging up and down on the spot. It helped.” Read All ?

Upon arriving the Press Conference for the film, the handsome actor told Fans-in-waiting that he’d come out to greet them after. He could also be seen slowly nursing a Tall-sized Coffee from Starbucks during breaks and finally came out after finishing work to take a generous round of photos and do autographs for everybody. Although I did get an invite to his party Saturday at Ultra Supper Club, I had other engagements so it was wonderful meeting him today. Credit for story and pictures by: Mr. Will-W

Hayden and Tove Christensen light up TIFF with new flick, Vanishing on 7th Street.
Moet and Belvedere vodka were flowing and the music was pumping as party goers mingled and sipped on bevies in celebration of Hayden’s new thriller flick, Vanishing on 7th Street. Hayden and his brother Tove also served as producers on the film with their production company Forest Park Pictures — clearly talent runs in the fam. Clad in grey denim, combat boots, a blue and black plaid flannel shirt and a plaid scarf, we rubbed shoulders with Hayden in the VIP section as he casually chatted with friends and chilled with Tove.

When Hayden, who partied until 4 am, requested Toronto’s hip-hop king K-OS (where has he been hiding, anyway?!) to take a spin as DJ.

Hayden Christensen at his Official TIFF Party
Hayden Chrsitensen Christensen describes the movie as a combination between a traditional thriller and a thinking man’s film that explores some big ideas. He also says that, as a Torontontian, he’s proud to see the direction TIFF has gone in as one of the premier festivals in the world.

Verifiably real at the TIFF hot spot was Hayden Christensen, who calmly socialized in the lounge, and his Vanishing co-star Thandie Newton, who looked like a million in a loose magenta top and matching sequined skirt. Ladies at the party were swooning over the newly single Christensen, who built his dream home in Uxbridge with his now ex-fiancée Rachel Bilson. “He looks like James Dean!” a woman in her mid-40s gushed as she watched Christensen smoking outside. Great—now we have a James Dean imposter! Source
