The Chase

I posted earlier about Hayden possibly being part as “The Chase” cast. Well, looks as if Cinando.com has him listed as part of the cast and the film itself will try to be sold at the Berlinale/European Film Market next month. Source
Synopsis
Ex pat American getaway driver SCALPEL (Hayden Christensen) is the best in the business. A former test driver for Lamborghini, behind the wheel he can slice through the streets with surgical precision, a skill that’s tested to the limit when he signs up for a heist that goes awry. Barely escaping the law following an epic, tire melting pursuit, Scalpel promises his frantic kid sister SAMANTHA that he’s retired, much to the
chagrin of his arch nemesis, crooked cop RAY who’s obsessed with taking him down.
After failing to lure Scalpel back into the game with a lucrative joyriding job, ruthless Ray pulls out the stops and goes after Samantha, determined to get to Scalpel by any means necessary. Now with his family under threat Scalpel realizes the only way to escape Ray is to leave town forever and accepts the job. He knows it’s a set up, but running out of choices and time the only option left is to give Ray what he wants: a showdown on wheels.
Thanks Trish!

yahoo….hayden blowing stuff up AND in a hot car!!!!
Oooooh, fast cars and Hayden. What could be better??
This film sounds like his best yet! So excited!
When is he going to do something decent again, like LAAH or SG. This is the dumbest plot ever, so I really hope it doesn’t get off the ground and he can do something better than this!
@Mona - agreed, H needs to get involved in dramas again to showcase his acting skills like he did in LAAH and SG.
…can’t you dig the love vibe in those toronto pics….so kute!!!
To Mona and Darth Caedus… THANK YOU for bringing that up. I was going to say the same thing but was scared of sounding unsupportive of Hayden. While there’s nothing wrong with a good action movie now and then, this one sounds cliche, and below hayden’s ability as an actor. he deserves better scripts. The guy is talented. I miss seeing him in deep, meaningful films like LAAH and Shattered Glass. That’s why I became a fan of his in the first place. If I want to watch a plotless action movie I can turn the TV on to any channel. I liked him because he was willing to sacrfice fame for real, meaty roles. He needs a new agent. I am still a Hayden fan, but I’m beginning to lose faith in the guy. How long do all of us have to wait to see him in a great movie, not just an average one?
I agree with Mona, Darth Caedus e Diamondeyed. I hope that Hayden won’t star in this movie, I don’t hate the action movie, I think that there are many good of this tipical movie, but I prefer Hayden in a dramatic or complicate role. I saw him in “New York, I love you” and he is fantastic. I think that “Vanishing on 7th street” could be a great movie, especially for the director, Brad Anderson and I hope that Hayden will do a great role in a great movie, maybe in “Beast of Bataan” . The last news about this movie don’t talk that the production began in febraury?I hope so.
I agree with Diamondeyed: Hayden needs another better agent!!
Sorry for my orrible english, I’m italian girl ;).
Please I’m willing to see Hayden in almost anything. As long as he’s not at the bottom of the barrel I’m good. And honestly speaking LAAH bored the crap out of me. I just couldn’t get into it. Some interesting things went on but as a whole….. I don’t go to theaters to see movies like that. I wait until the DVD comes out. Forgive me, I just like to be entertained with twists suspense comedy action and fantasy. Drama, not so much. SG was was funny. I know it wasn’t really a comedy but I was rolling on the guys lies. I think the look on people’s face when they caught in lies is always funny. And that guy was just pathetic. I really miss that movie. But anyway, my initial reason for commenting was I have question for Jen. Who sings the song in the so fine screen saver? You probably put it somewhere and I totally missed it.
@ ATLQueen- Garbage is the group.
Cool! I feel like I should have known that.
@Altqueen=I understand you. I prefer complicate or drammatic role(like as “Factory Girl”) but maybe this “The chase” will be a good action movie: John McTiernan is a good director and every(almost)his movies are good, funny and success in the box office. I hope that this movie will be good ;)
Hi, Ok, I hope I don’t get dinged for this. I love the Twilight books and movies. I’d love to see Hayden in the Breaking Dawn part of the story/movie when it comes out. There is this good looking, nomad vampire guy, who is a free spirited hiker/mountain climber type guy who saves one of the good vampires from the volturi. I know it’s not a leading role but it would be fun and so cool. Anyway, I would like that.
This sounds really dumb. I wish he’d get back to making movies with a story line.
At least he’s still getting offered movies. There was a time a few years back where people were expecting him to just disappear post SW. He did two good, meaty roles with FG and Awake so maybe right now, since he has a lot of other more important things going on in his life, he’s looking for something entertaining over something meaty.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels this way about this potential film for H, while I’m glad that he seems to be working regularly, I am a bit disappointed he hasn’t had the chance to showcase his acting chops in a real dramatic role. I hope that role comes along for him in the future because he really is an underrated actor, no matter what the stupid critics say. Maybe they could rename this film “The Fast and the Sidious” instead of The Chase? LOL
Hayden seems to be doing what a lot of actors do. They make a big, commercial movie to earn the money to afford to take the smaller roles they love to do. Hayden’s done a few smaller things since Jumper, and is also set up to do a little directing. He’s doing what he wants to do, even though his choices may not please everyone. Also, I’m thinking that he could be grabbing another opportunity to work with a well-established and proven director. Whatever the reason, I hope he continues to do whatever he wants to do, popular choice or not.
It’s just a rumor people!
@Anne
Having Hayden play a vampire would be a dream come true, so I’m all for it!!
@Lora Thanks! :)
Hi, By the way the vampire I’m referring to is named Garrett. fyi, in case anyone’s read the books.
What role does Hayden play in the film “The Chase?”
I agree about Hayden doing a dramatic lead again. That’s what he’s best at. He’s destined to receive an Oscar some day if given the right role.
