Synopsis :
This is based on a true story about Stephen Glass, a staff writer for the respected current events and policy magazine “The New Republic” and a freelance feature for “Rolling Stone Magazine”, “Harper’s Bazzar” and “George”. Looking for a short cut to fame,Glass concocted sources, quotes and even entire stories, but his deception did not go unnoticed forever, and eventually, his world came crumbling down.
Trivia and Facts :
• The end credits attribute a song to The Ramons instead of The Ramones.
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Chuck confronts Stephen in his office after realizing that Stephen’s brother was the voice of George Sims. An expletive describing the voice mail was dubbed over to preserve the film’s PG-13 rating.
• When Stephen (Hayden Christensen) and Caitlin (Chloe Sevigny) are talking at the party about Stephen going to law school, you can see her hair is in front of her right ear. In the next shot it’s behind the ear and the following shot it’s back in front of the ear.
• As Michael leaves after being fired and Chuck returns to the office, the clocks in the newsroom read drastically different times in each shot, even going backward through time at one point.
• As Caitlyn types an instant message to let someone know Stephan has been suspended, she makes a sad emoticon. We switch shots to her and then back to the computer and the sad disappears. There is no sound of her hitting the backspace key to erase it, nor does she move the mouse in any way to remove it.
