Finding solace in the face of tragedy

Ian Smyth loved Star Wars, so when actor Hayden Christensen spent 15 minutes speaking with him at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, it was a treat that bolstered the teen’s spirits.

Smyth, who passed away last month, was at the hospital recovering from a double-lung transplant.

When he was five years old, the Greater Sudbury youngster was attacked by a virus that seriously damaged his lungs, and by the time he was 13, he needed a transplant. Read All ?

I thought this was a great article and just the fact that HAYDEN took the time, patience and care to talk and listen to this guy, I think, shows the quality of HAYDEN’S nature. There’s so much bashing on the internet, at least there is a sight that truly celebrates HAYDEN’S professional and private life with a positive view point. Thank you Jen!

That article made me very sad. It’s terrible that we live in a world where many kids can’t fully live out their childhood because of terminal illnesses. It’s sweet that Hayden took some time to hang out with that teenaged boy. As much as people do bash him I find him very refreshing in Hollywood. I’m not really into celebrities much as I find them very shallow and self-important. But after reading interviews Hayden seems so far away from the Hollywood scene. He’s very normal and down to earth and that’s one of qualities I like about him. I mean the guy is hot and all, but what keeps me interested in him is his personality.

That was a very nice thing for him to do …And now it’s bring comfort to his grieving family…A gift that will keep on giving.

Heartbreaking. Although I know Hayden may have had a smile on his face, I imagine he had a very heavy heart. I truly love his willingness to give of himself—to lead a meaningful life far away from the phoniness of the world of celebrity.

    Love you, H. :)
