MENTION:Maybe, but not on George Hickenlooper's part. I checked with the Factory Girl director about Rush & Molloy's reporting, and he says (a) it's dead wrong and (b) running such an item degrades Miller and Christensen's dignity. "This story in the Daily News is completely untrue," he said. "There was no sexual intimacy during the filming of this scene. Sienna and Hayden are actors. The physicality of the scene was completely simulated. So I completely deny the claims. I know -- I was in the room with them. MORE ?

She is on top of the world when she falls in love with a larger-than-life rock star (Hayden Christensen), the man known as "the voice of a generation." FACTORY GIRL REVIEW:Hayden Christensen's musician character, an obvious stand-in for real-life Edie associate Bob Dylan, tries to get the girl to see through Warhol's pretensions, to little avail. The film paints the differences between the Dylan-esque character and Warhol in fairly broad strokes: The former's music is true and meaningful, while the latter's art is hollow. The result is that Christensen becomes the hero of the film, out to save Edie, while Warhol is essentially the bad guy. He uses the girl, disposes of her out of jealousy when her relationship with Christensen blossoms, and then leaves her to her drug-addicted fate. READ ALL ?

FACTORY REJECT:Dylan (called "The Musician" in the credits, though he's clearly the object of Hayden Christensen's drawling impersonation) feared the film would imply he was responsible for Sedgwick's death. (there's also a audio file where you can listen to Dana Stevens spoiler review) SOURCE.

BOB DYLAN'S BLUES:So in the final version of the film, Dylan’s name wasn’t used – he was referred to as the “folk singer.” But they certainly used Dylan’s likeness, or as close to it as actor Hayden Christensen could come. If you ask me, Dylan should have been flattered – Christensen is much better looking than Dylan ever dreamed of being. MORE ?

BOX OFFICE:MGM and the Weinstein Co. had great success with the limited release of "The Factory Girl," starring Sienna Miller. The film from director George Hickenlooper grossed $95,291 on three screens for an estimated per-screen average of $31,764. It was the highest-grossing film at the ArcLight theater in Los Angeles and at the Angelika theater in New York. SOURCE ? REVIEW:This is Christensen’s best work to date. Later this year, many other actors will portray Dylan during various points of his life in I’m Not There, but I liked Christensen’s work here. He plays "Dylan", or whoever, as a legitimate musical genius and influential folk singer. He was an experienced, confident, and calm celebrity, who bluntly tells Edie “You don’t know shit about shit.” One could make the statement that Sedgwick and Dylan did not have a sexual relationship, but it is difficult to debate that claim. In my opinion, many Dylan songs make reference to, or are altogether about Sedgwick. READ MORE ?

REVIEW:Her vulnerability is highlighted when, unable to find the love she craves from Warhol and The Factory, she turns to singer-songwriter Billy Quinn (Hayden Christensen), a captivating musician who represents everything that Warhol is not. MORE ?

HOT PRODUCTION STILL OF THE DAY:"Virgin Territory"-Hayden Christensen gets some tub time in "Virgin Territory" (The Weinstein Company, MGM, August 27th) We already went off on how hot "Virgin Territory" looks here, but when this production still (which we had to censor) came flying into our inbox we just had to share it with all of you. The film has been moved around a lot, with release dates ranging from last year summer to March of this year to finally August 27th. The film has also gone through many name changes as we mentioned in one of our first posts about the film. WHAT'S WITH ANDY:By threat of lawsuit, that’s not Bob Dylan that Hayden Christensen portrays in Factory Girl. That unnamed “folksinger” is taller and better looking than Bob. But what was the worry? He comes across as the smartest person in the film. He can see right through Andy Warhol’s pretensions and calls him a “bloodsucker.” MORE ?

'FACTORY GIRL' TO OPEN:Locally Feb. 16-"Factory Girl" will open at the Louisiana Boardwalk Regal Cinemas on Feb. 16 for at least a one-week run. The feature film is based on 1960s glamour girl Edie Sedgwick and her relationship with artist Andy Warhol. The one-week run is being arranged through a partnership between Regal Cinemas and the Robinson Film Center. Planners are currently organizing a local premiere event which will begin at around 7 p.m. Exact screening times have not be set. MORE ?

FILM CLIPS: Dylan is never mentioned by name, even though Hayden Christensen is made to look just like him and imitates his vocal patterns. Still, if it's the movie's intention to present Dylan as unloving and full of himself, it succeeds. (There's also a podcast that you can download and listen to him review) SOURCE.

PHILLYIST:What's new and/or interesting in Philly theaters this weekend. Factory Girl - The controversial film about the life of Edie Sedgwick, which comes complete with Bob Dylan's official stamp of disapproval! Sedgwick is played here by Sienna Miller, and Warhol (oddly enough) by Guy Pearce. The film also stars Hayden Christensen, Jimmy Fallon , Edward Herrman, and Mena Suvari. SOURCE.

REVIEW:Enter a legendary folk-rocker (Hayden Christensen as a stand-in for Bob Dylan, who threatened to sue if his name was used). He and Edie click (for a time), and a jealous Andy drops her. All she has left are the drugs, the bloodsucking parasites, and oblivion. Near the end, she scarily suggests Liza Minnelli on an especially bad day. READ MORE ?

REVIEW:Factory Girl becomes a triangle in which Sedgwick, trapped in the spotlight she craved, finds herself caught between the arid, voyeuristic Warhol and an unnamed musician played by Hayden Christensen, who is obviously meant to be a certain curly-haired, messianic folk-rock icon. Did Sedgwick really have an affair with Bob Dylan, READ MORE ?

GIRL DECONSTRUCTED: Pearce does such a fine job, in fact, that the movie might have worked better as Factory Boy, with him as the focus. Especially when he matches wits with Christensen's Dylan figure, his passive-aggressive timidity against the musician's plainly aggressive contempt. A scene where the two debate how to film one of Warhol's screen tests – essentially a still life captured on film – is one of the movie's highlights. MORE ?

SOME CHARACTERS HAVE:Had many faces-Darth Vader : Weightlifter David Prowse donned the Sith Lord’s cape and helmet in Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983), with James Earl Jones providing the voice. Jake Lloyd was seen as the future baddie (Anakin Skywalker) in The Phantom Menace (1999), followed by Hayden Christensen in Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005). SOURCE.

REVIEW:Edie gets into a relationship with singer Billy Quinn (allegedly partially modeled after Bob Dylan) (Hayden Christensen). Quinn doesn't think very highly of Warhol or his art, and compares Edie to Holly Golightly (the character immortalized by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's): both are enjoying a fun, crazy lifestyle, surrounded by exciting people and both may have been victims of exploitation, discarded when they were no longer useful. Edie can't turn away from Andy though, so she loses Quinn. Definitely give this film a shot! The peace and love decade and the bizarre world of Warhol was beautifully portrayed through color, image, and music. The pace of the film was very quick. The turbulence that was her life mirrored the picture's soaring and stalling in plot. READ MORE ?

REVIEW:Which is as good a time as any to mention Hayden Christensen as Edie’s lover, a musician who makes Warhol jealous. He is based not very loosely on Bob Dylan, but goes unnamed because Dylan’s representatives threatened to sue. READ MORE ?

MOVIE REVIEWS:The other lead actor of note is Hayden Christensen, credited in the film only as "Folk Singer". Who Christensen really plays is Bob Dylan though the Factory Girl team is clearly quite fearful of being sued and thus never gives his identity away. MORE ?

REVIEW:It's a similar situation with Hayden Christensen as the slow-talking, too-cool folk singer who's referred to as either Billy or "the musician" -- Bob Dylan's lawyers threw a tantrum back in December, claiming the film blames him for Sedgwick's death, which is just a bit of a stretch -- except in his case, one can't stop staring at him. REVIEW:Edie also meets a folk-rock musician, Billy Quinn (Hayden Christensen), who offers her a more idealistic alternative to Warhol’s cynical, potentially exploitative patronage. Warhol sees Edie’s romantic relationship with Billy as a betrayal of their friendship. MORE ?

WE SEE MOVIES: We’ve just seen “Factory Girl,” and the moral of the story is: Drugs are bad. This is a terrific period piece. It’s a great glimpse into the era of the mid-to-late ‘60s. Hayden Christensen is taking a beating from the critics for his performance, but he’s ok. It’s really fun to see the superficiality of her friendship with Andy Warhol, and how desperately she just wanted to be “someone.” And she got to be someone – but with the worst possible demise. MENTION:Waking up during surgery: It's scary, but not common: Anesthesiologists won't be pleased when the psychological thriller "Awake" is eventually released. It stars Hayden Christensen ("Star Wars: Episode III") as a man who finds himself awake and alert, but unable to move or speak, because he didn't get enough anesthesia during heart surgery. SPECIAL SCREENING:Of ‘Factory Girl’ set-The movie “Factory Girl” will open for a one-week run at the Louisiana Boardwalk’s Regal Cinemas on Friday . There will be a special screening at 7:50 p.m. Friday. Organizers are working to recreate a 1960s atmosphere for the event. Moviegoers are asked to wear 1960s-style clothing, but dress participation is not mandatory. Tickets go on sale at the Louisiana Boardwalk’s Regal Cinemas box office beginning Wednesday. BOX OFFICE NUMBERS:MGM's second weekend of the Weinstein Co.'s "Factory Girl" was strong. The Sienna Miller starrer grossed $184,000 on 18 screens, up 15 from the previous frame. The R-rated film boasted a per-screen average of $10,222 for a cume of $310,215. SOURCE.

REVIEW:Mena Suvari and Jimmy Fallon (surprisingly!) fill the supporting roles well and perhaps most notable in the supporting category is Hayden Christensen and his performance as “not Bob Dylan” Billy Quinn.

REVIEW:"Factory Girl" taps the enduring fascination of Andy Warhol and his world, yet it keeps us at arm's length. The movie turns into a triangle, with Sedgwick caught betwee Warhol and an unnamed musician, played by Hayden Christiansen Christensen, who's obviously meant to be a certain curly-haired, messianic folk-rock icon. "He'd spent months studying the way Dylan looks and talks, and he wanted it to be real," Hickenlooper says. "So I had to respect that."
