OSCAR RUNNERS MISS BAFTA RACE:In recent years, the British Academy of Film & TV Arts has done everything in its power to position its film awards as a bellwether for the Oscars. On the other hand, Harvey Weinstein is so convinced that "Factory Girl," and particularly its British star Sienna Miller, could get a real kick from the BAFTAs, that he bent every sinew to squeeze the movie under the wire. HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN IS THE MADISON KID :Hayden Christensen ("Star Wars" prequels) will play "Poker Brat" Phil Hellmuth in the biopic The Madison Kid, according to Production Weekly. In 1989, the 24-year-old Hellmuth became the youngest World Champion of Poker by defeating the two-time defending champion, Johnny Chan, in the World Series of Poker main event. Hellmuth attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for three years before dropping out to play poker full time much to the chagrin of his father, a professor at the school. Hellmuth's friend, Bob Soderstrom, wrote the script which is scheduled to begin filming April or May in Winnipeg, Canada. SOURCE?

The whole Dylan-Warhol connection is about to come up in George Hickenlooper’s movie, "Factory Girl," in which Sienna Miller plays Edie, Guy Pearce of "Memento" (in what’s said to be an Oscar performance) is Andy and Hayden Christensen plays a Dylan-like character named Billy Quinn. HC TOTALLY LOOKS LIKE HELLMUTH:I came across this little tid-bit last night while catching a bit of Entertainment Tonight on the TV. Apparently, Hayden Christensen is set to play Phil Hellmuth in a biopic about Phil’s rise to WSOP glory at the tender age of 24. We were just commenting on how remarkable the resemblance is between Hayden and Phil….but only when Hayden puts on a pair of sunglasses and a hat. READ ALL ?

YOUNG MILLIE:It looks as if Anna Sophia Robb will continue to play Young Millie in Jumper. According to her Journal at her official website she says: " I go back to Toronto sometime after we wrap Ferris Wheel to finish up Jumper, but the dates are not set. BIOPIC GETS DYLAN'S ATTENTION: In the movie, the folk-rocker's character has been morphed into "Billy Quinn," purportedly drawing from several performers. But people who have seen the movie say Quinn, played by Hayden Christensen, has Dylan's mannerisms and sports a checked scarf similar to the one Dylan has on the cover of his classic "Blonde on Blonde" album. DYLAN DEMANDS FACTORY GIRL SCREENING: Just by watching the trailer for Factory Girl, I gathered that Hayden Christensen's character is supposed to represent Bob Dylan. He's got the voice, the look and the harmonica. Sure, the character has a different name, and the film's producers are insisting that it is actually a composite of Dylan, Mick Jagger and Jim Morrison, but as played and depicted, it is as obviously specific as it gets. The whole thing makes me think of Velvet Goldmine, which featured Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Ewan McGregor blatantly portraying David Bowie and Iggy Pop, respectively, without the film's use of real names. MCTIERNAN TO 'CRASH BANDITS': Hayden Christensen is considering to star in the pic. Christensen recently finsihed Virgin Territory aka Guilty Pleasures (Budget: $38M) which is set for us release in August of 07 and he currently shooting the 100M+ action adventure Jumper for New Regency. Director John McTiernan who's last film Basic (est. cost $50M) generated a lukewarm $34.21 million theatrically in 11 territories*, has signed on to direct the action adventure 'Crash Bandits'. JUMPER BEAMS INTO COLOSSEUM: Director Doug Liman was granted rare permission to shoot his SF thriller film Jumper in Rome's famed ancient Colosseum, The New York Times reported. Liman shot the film, which stars Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson in a story about a man who can teleport himself, for three days last month in the ruin. READ ALL ?

FACTORY MAN: IF the director George Hickenlooper looks exhausted, weighed down by the matching set of luggage beneath his eyes, it’s with good reason. As late as last week, he was still shooting new scenes for his film “Factory Girl,” a biopic about Edie Sedgwick starring Sienna Miller. Despite news media reports that Mr. Hickenlooper had been taken off the project (not true) and that Bob Dylan was upset with how he is portrayed (true), the only opinion that matters now belongs to the executive producer, Harvey Weinstein. CRITICS REVIEW: Coming between the two is a singer-songwriter (Hayden Christensen) identified in credits as "Musician," who seduces Edie with devil-may-care charm. With his rebellious political profile, puffed-up hair and nasally voice, the character certainly evokes Bob Dylan, with whom Edie never had a documented affair. FACTORY FINAL: There are two significant differences between last night's Factory Girl and the version I saw five months ago. Miller is still uncannily on-target -- she still has Sedgwick's "fluttery debutante laugh, that mixture of Warholian cool and little-girl terror, the giddy euphoria, the cracked voice," as I wrote last summer -- but Guy Pearce's Andy Warhol performance has been beefed up to an extent that he's no longer a distinct supporting character but a costar. And Hayden Christensen's Bob Dylan character (called "Danny Quinn" in the press notes but never called anything by anyone in the film) also seems a bit more assertive and sharply defined. FACTORY GIRL SCRAMBLES TOGETHER FOR A LAST MINUTE OSCAR HOPE: A while back, a few of the males on The Envelope's The Buzzmeter had placed Sienna Miller in their top five predictions for Best Actress. This came out of left field, to be sure, and was probably based more on wishful thinking than on any kind of real buzz. However, now that the movie was pulled for reshoots then put back in the Oscar race, Miller is getting some good notices, though it doesn't look like she can pull it off in such a short amount of time.
