Hayden Christensen is set to topline David R. Ellis’ “The Genesis Code,” an action-thriller about genetic engineering and a religious sect known as the Shadow of the Cross.

Myriad, which owns worldwide rights, will sell the film at the Cannes film market, which gets under way Wednesday.

Myriad’s Cannes slate also includes 2010 Sundance audience winner “Happythankyoumoreplease”; Simon Wincer’s “The Cup,” which Brendan Gleeson has joined; “Every Day”; “Main Street”; and “Good Neighbors.”

I would love to see him get another good role for him. And this sounds like it could be fun.

The good news is, it looks like after a looooooooooooonnnnnnnnngggggg hiatus, Hayden is starting to raise his profile a bit and work more (and not raising it in a famewhoring way getting his picture taken while running errands around Los Angeles, but by being involved in something he cares about). The bad news is, this project sounds a bit like a DiVinci Code knock-off. But here’s hoping it will be good and original.

Actually, Stacy, The Da Vinci Code was a knock-off of The Genesis Code. John Case’s book predates Dan Brown’s by 6 years (1997 vs, 2003).

hahaha….I didn’t know that. But in terms of movies, I guess DiVinci Code got there first.

So happy to hear this - will always love Hayden and want the best for him. I don’t know how he’s coped with the negativity hurled his way and I think that perhaps that is why he’s been relatively inconspicuous. I think he chose to be away from attention. Perhaps now he’s healed and recovered his belief in himself. So dang glad. Beyond a happy dance - I’m doing the tango :)

I’m delighted to see this and I think these indie roles are a great vehicle for him because they will showcase his acting abilities in varied roles.

When I see negativity hurled at him I ALWAYS pipe in with positivity and shut them up. If you read comments calling them “Jealous Fanboys” that’s me. They hate that with a passion and I never fail to mention how much I love the prequels especially ATOC and I never argue just state me opinion and move on.

His brother is looking out for him and I think he is going to be just fine.
