Fancentral; Factory Girl Movie Reviews
You be the critic
After you have seen the movie 'Factory Girl', give me your honest professional opinion about what you thought of the movie. All you have to do is click the email url, send me your review and I will post it.

• [Manq ] I enjoyed the movie apart from the bad langauge that cropped up from time to time and the nudity/sex scene. The nudity/sex scene weren't too bad but I could have done without having to see those. I wish Hayden had been in it sooner but it was worth the wait to see him as his performance was superb. I thought his accent was funny though. Not the accent I'm used to hearing! Over all a good movie and all Hayden fans should enjoy it.

• [Bruninha ] I've watched in New York last week. I'm from Brazil but I was there for my vacation so I've had to check out and see the act of Hayden. The movie it's kind of sad but I believe Hayden was amazing, he really looked like a 60's folk singer and very convencing as Bob Dylan, even that we are forbbiden to say that he's Bob Dylan..I liked the movie and I hope it comes to my country soon

• [TinaJ. ] Overall I really enjoyed and loved this movie, enough to add it in my "list" of favorite movies of all time. I also honestly loved how they filmed it. It had this strange quality to it. I think that they could of made it a little longer and maybe with more details but again overall it was in my opinion a great movie. The love scene was fine but I think it was strange how it goes from talking about family to making love...I think they should of probably added another scene that leads to that intimate scene. It was very intense, disturbing(not in a bad way), sad, and funny in a strange way. Hayden was very good in it. I'm amazed how well he can go into character in any movie he does and that's one thing I think makes a good actor. He was obviously playing Bob Dylan and played him well. Everything from the looks to the way he spoke to his ideas and meanings to what he sings about (the scene in the coffee shop), all screams out Bob Dylan! He was amazing and I think this role in this movie really made him grows an actor. I thought Sienna Miller was amazing as Edie. I was kind of surprised she played her so well. I haven't really seen any of her other movies to really know how she was as an actress but in this movie she was great. I've heard Edie talk and seen some old clips of her and Sienna really played her well. Guy Pearce was fantastic as Andy Warhol. From what I've heard, learned, and read about Andy Warhol, Guy seems to have played him pretty well. I think all 3 actors were more than amazing. I also understand why Hayden's character couldn't be in the movie that much but he, for the amount of time he was in it, he was awesome! The music and the fashion/wardrobe in the movie was freaking awesome!..AND Sienna's hairstyle was great too! lol

• [Joan ] I loved the movie the thing i did not like is Sienna Miller. To me she did not look the part and she did not sound right i loved Hayden he was amazing he has the hole bad boy feel to him i loved Guy Pierce as well he really played Andy Warhol like a true actor should i loved the movie over all and i love Hayden Christensen.

• [Mark ] I paid $5 at a matinee showing. There were 10 people in the seats. All older than I. Mostly grey-haired men. I thought they might have had the hots for Edie at one time in their lives. I don't know. I came with an open mind. I had read poor reviews, but I was there to support Hayden. I also have watched documentaries on Andy Warhol and had an interest in the subject matter. I thought the acting was good, but the characters (other than Sid and "the musician") were pretty deplorable and pathetic. I didn't care for the choppiness of the editing. The scenes seemed so brief that I didn't really get attached to any of the characters or feel much sympathy for them, only disdain. There was more substance abuse than substance in this film. The only scene that I got emotionally invested in was when Edie's family lawyer (or whoever he was) gives her money from his pocket and she hugs him. That brought one tear to my eye. I have to tell you, the movie didn't do too much for me other than make me feel sad and icky. Kudos to the actors though, they did their job with what they were given. I would not have gone to see this movie after reading the reviews, if Hayden were not in it. I will not be buying the DVD, even though he is.

• [Eddie ] I have to admit that I was somewhat disappointed with Factory Girl. I really liked Guy Pearce as Andy Warhol and Sienna Miller was OK. But I was really disappointed with the size of Hayden’s role. I mean he got second billing, but he hardly had any lines. Jimmy Fallon had a bigger part than Hayden. I can only assume that they cut out a lot of Hayden’s scenes due to Dylan’s threatened lawsuit. I liked the feel of the movie-I thought it captured New York chic circa 1965.

• [Hilary ] This is a good film, not a feel-good film. Sienna is surprisingly likeable. Her innocent yet wild character makes her genuine. The heart-stopping moment you just KNOW Hayden is about to appear is thrilling. Taxi cab, stairs, the haze of drugs/alcohol radiating from Edie stirs the audience then everyone stops when they see Hayden (musician). That was fun. I was disappointed when I first heard his deep rasp of a voice in the coffee shop. He seems to grow into the character as the film moves along. Guy plays a wonderfully heartless Warhol. He gets the insecurity just right. Anyone whose seen Memento knows what a great actor Guy is after comparing these two roles. The love scene was realistic. Some might be wary of this but it is rated R!!! Overall, this film met my expectations.

• [Iamhere ] I live in Shreveport, where the movie was filmed. I went to a special showing of Factory Girl about a week ago. I thought the movie was very good. It was pretty much just what I was expecting. However, there was not enough of Hayden in the movie. The love scene he was in with Edie made up for that though. Wow! Hayden did a great job with the limited amount of time he had on camera to develop his character.

• [Terri ] Finally, Factory Girl came to our city. It only came to two little theaters, but that was okay. I went with my sister and we both thought that it was fantastic. It was better than I thought it was going to be. I felt that all three main characters did a great job! I really sympathyzed with Edie. I liked how even though Andy's character was very cold, he did have a funny side! But, Hayden really brought out the "machoism" to the movie. He was amazing. If they hadn't had Hayden's part, then it would have been just another boring documentary about Andy and his muse. He really adds carisma to the film. My favorite part was Billy's Screentest. I heard that the scene was actually an improvization. That Hayden and Guy just made it up as they went along. Anyway, it was great! I also felt the lovescene was done very tastefully, but it didn't hurt the movie to get all of that publicity. Again, I was very happy to see it and can't wait to own a copy on DVD. One thing that I cannot agree on is that everyone (critics, etc.) think that Hayden is trying to sound like Dylan. I have to say, I don't agree. To me, that was just Hayden's voice. That is how he always sounds. I am wondering if you agree with me, because you met him too. Don't you think that is just his regular voice? I remember being shocked at how his voice sounded different in person compared to how he talks in Star Wars III. Not that I was disappointed, just being observant. Now, I can't wait to see Awake and Virgin Territory (which I am reading is kind of a "Princess Bride" kind of comedy). But again, I was not disappointed in the least and thought that Bob Dylan should be happy with the project because Hayden's character really protrays him as a hero and is better looking than he could ever hope to be! I give the movie a 9 out of 10 only because I wish Hayden was in it more, but really they all did great and the movie deserves some recogniton for the Oscars.

• [Kristin ] Overall I loved the movie. I saw this movie on Sat evening and i was completely surprised how many people were actually watching the movie. They were all older than me. Hayden did an amazing job with what little parts he actually had. It was really cool to see what happened in that whole era. And just how much Andy used people. Edie had a horrible end to her life, it almost made me cry. All the actors did such a great job. It will definitely be a movie i buy on dvd.

• [Bren ] I saw the movie today and I really really like it, I have to say that was a bit different of what I deduce that the story was from the little clips that I saw. I think that the performance of everyone was very very good; Guy do a good job as Warhol, and in despite that I'm not like very much Sienna I have to admit that her performance as Edie was very good, I mean you really could feel the sadness, fear and loneliness that Edie was supposed to feel in that moments, and of course Hayden was great as he usually is, his performance is perfect, is so touching and comunicates so much, you really could feel the love, fear and pain that he feels for Edie when he saw her suffering and falling apart. I don't know why Bob Dylan feel offended with this character, I think he should be honored and proud for being represented in such a convincing way like the one that Hayden did of him. I really enjoy the movie and I think it really accomplish her target showing you how the real life of this enigmatic woman was, how important and how much she influenced american culture, and why not make you take a look back to your own life. It certainly be part of my favorite movies.

• [Julia S ] I saw FG with my friend in Cleveland Hts, OH at the Cedar Lee Theatre a few weeks ago. I thought Hayden did a great job playing a rock star / Bob Dylan type character. Sienna did a great job too and was very convincing as a "spoiled rich girl gone wrong". Guy Pearce was fabulously droll and really seemed to nail Andy Warhol as an apathetic and eccentric artist. I thought the love scene with Hayden and Sienna was HOT, although I was a bit jealous! I really loved the scene when Billy (Hayden) confronted Andy (Guy) at the "Factory" and mocked him openly, then left abruptly with extreme disdain. You really felt sorry for Edie toward the end, how she was used and abused by Andy, and got hooked on drugs to her own demise. It was really a sad story. I wish they developed Hayden's character, Billy, a little more. I felt like there were too many gaps and you really didn't feel the connection between Sienna and Hayden enough since there was limited screen time. All in all, I think the movie itself was a little weak, but the story was intriguing in itself. Andy Warhol's character really creeped me out, as he was as ugly on the inside as he was on the outside.I think Hayden is so interesting for picking different types of characters and being unique in his selection. He's really trying to break free of the Anakin Skywalker role....you go Hayden! You're awesome!

• [Cherie ] I rented the DVD and just finished watching it. Based on the reviews, it seems people either love it or hate it; I loved it. I think Hayden could have really taken off with the role if he'd had a bigger part in the movie, but what he did have I really enjoyed. I know they are saying that Hayden's character is not supposed to be Bob Dylan, but he has the voice, the mannerisms, and even the look of Dylan from that era. I am reminded of how Hayden held back in Start Wars II, but really let everything out in Episode III, and think the same would have been true for Factory Girl. All in all, with what he had to work with, he was great. I rented the DVD to see if I wanted to spend the money to buy it, and I definitely will!

• [Ani ] I have already watched 'Factory girl' and I am happy to say that it was a pleasure for me to see it. Hayden Christensen's part is great as well as all the other actors'.I would strongly recommend seeing this movie. It would be a great loss not watching i

• [Kitty ] I just saw Factory Girl and have to say it left me cold. Not an out-and-out bad movie but kind of mediocre. I guess my main problem is that Edie Sedgewick's life just seems too shallow to make much of a drama about. The movie's attempts at giving her glamor just made it seem tedious in my eyes. She tells some tragic stories of her life but you never know if she's just saying this stuff for sympathy or to make herself sound more interesting. Especially when she's heavy into the drug use. However it's nice to see that Hayden is trying to get roles which allow him to show range. He was one of the few voices of reason in the picture. I will probably like him best as Anakin Skywalker but I'd like him to have a long, successful career outside of Star Wars.

• [Stacy ] After anticipating this film for months just to get a taste of some thing new and Hayden, I was finally able to rent and view the unrated cut of Factory Girl yesterday. I have to say that I was incredibly disappointed. I’ll start off by saying that I think Hayden did a good job playing The Musician. I don’t know that much about Bob Dylan’s persona, and even though I know that’s who he was supposed to be playing I can’t say how well he did portraying him. I think that the reviews calling his performance “awful” or “dreadful” are unfounded and are a result of critics looking at his performance through the prism of Star Wars. These are people who are probably never going to give him his due credit, but whatever. Sienna Miller and Guy Pearce also turned in great performances. It’s just a shame that the “big three” didn’t have more of a script to work with. Here were my complaints: first, I never really got a sense of why Edie and Andy became friends to begin with, and why the thought of losing that friendship was so terrifying to her. I mean, I know she gave some commentary about how everyone at The Factory was accepted, but those are just words. If the film was meant to be a study of Edie and Andy’s relationship, it did a very superficial job. I also didn’t have much use for the Edie/Musician storyline. Their romance literally comes out of nowhere; there’s no buildup to it and literally one minute they’re talking and the next minute they’re naked. She comments later that The Musician was the “love of her life” but again, I just didn’t see that. I saw that they went out for coffee, went for a motorcycle ride and then slept together. The storyline was just too truncated. Maybe it would have been helpful to have more scenes with Hayden and Sienna that allowed the relationship between their characters to develop. All in all, I felt like Factory Girl was really a 90-minute music video. It was not interesting, it didn’t make me feel sorry for Edie and it didn’t even really do justice to her struggle with drugs—it just played out a few scenes that may well have come from a Lifetime movie. So, strong performances from the leads aside, I’d give the film * ½ stars out ****. I have little hope that Virgin Territory will be any better if it ever is released, so I’m holding out hope that Awake will be a really great, intriguing film that truly gives Hayden a chance to shine.

• [Jessica ] I thought Factory Girl was excellent. I'm really glad the director made this movie. Even though Hayden is hardly in it,the story is such a good one. I like how it shows Edie and Andy becoming friends and getting much closer. I just don't get why he used her. Andy saw her as a beautiful girl and just an ordinary person. He didn't see any good characteristics in her like Billy. Billy saw everything that Andy didn't see. I guess he made Edie feel loved and comfortable. Billy tells her to keep drawing and just pushes her to do good in life. Andy doesn't do a thing like that. He just uses her for his pornographic films. I just can't get the fact that Edie didn't believe Billy, saying he was going to screw up her life and she was going to lose everything. They had such a beautiful lil relationship. The love scene was so romantic and every time I see them together in the movie,it makes me want to cry cause they ended up together. In the end though, she knew he was right; she blew it. She lost everything, even him, now that he was engaged. I also don't know why she did drugs all the time. Edie knew she wasn't going to live past 30. Why would anyone want to screw up their life? Well,I just thought that this movie was excellent,it touched me. I'm glad I got to discover everything in the 1960's since I wasn't born yet. Now after I saw that movie, I just want to know more and more about her. Edie really did touch me with her characteristics and everything, but I just don't get the drugs.Anyway,I give this movie a thumbs up. Loved it all the way.

• [Cherie ] I rented the DVD this past weekend and I really enjoyed it. Both Sienna Miller and Guy Pearce were absolutely wonderful. Even though the movie says Hayden’s character is not Bob Dylan, he reminded me so much of him (I actually saw Bob Dylan back in the 60’s so have something to base this on). His look, mannerisms, and even the voice were really very much like Mr. Dylan. I also, like so many others, wish Hayden’s role had been bigger. If you watch the trailers and also the background info on the DVD, you see that there were other scenes that were filmed and probably cut from the movie. There was one where Hayden’s character gets out of a limo at the cemetery, and you assume he was there for Edie’s funeral. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to buy the DVD, which is why I rented it, but I definitely will. I loved the movie, although it was very sad, and I loved Hayden in it and love how he is taking parts so different from his other roles!

• [Andria ] Factory Girl: thought the movie was pretty good. Hayden's sex scenes were hot and I could visualize myself as his costar. (No brainer.) I think it was strange that the guy at Blockbuster asked me around three times if I was sure I wanted to rent it. (It wasn't that bad.) I asked him why don't you want me to see it? He said " because the girl dies in the end." I said "Why did you have to tell me that? 'Did you see 'Little Fish'?"- and he said that that was a good movie. As I was checking out the film, I told him the last time someone stopped me from seeing a movie it was a very scary movie. I told him it should be taken off the shelves. I think this movie though is nothing compared to any film not worth seeing like that one. I thought the acting from the lead Sienna Miller was terrific, and the guy who played Andy Warhol was the best interpretation by an actor- in cinema history. Hayden was so cool, and the story had a kind of sad and yet artistically perfect aura. I enjoyed the movie. I think anyone who knew the era of Warhol and who understood the artistic integrity he had and lacked, will find this movie closer to a documentary if anything else.

• [Vanessa ] At first I had no idea what it was about, I had no prior knowledge at all about the subject. I didn't even know Andy Warhol was gay! But then I came out of the theatre dissapointed. It wasn't at all what I was expecting. The movie seemed to move too quickly for me to understand what had happened in her life. I left the negative comment in my head until I got the dvd and screen capped it. I basically watched along and this time it made more sense to me. The story worked better and I started seeing more of how Edie fell apart. Watching her smoke a cigarette every other minute was disgusting me and I wanted her to stop so badly, making me realize that the movie did engulf me and give my emotions. Seanna is a very very good actress and I'm very proud to see Jimmy Fallon in a dramatic role! And of coures, Hayden was a doll. "Can of beans" - my favorite line! :) I've told every customer at my job (Blockbuster) to rent it and a majority of them did! Sold out on day #1!

• [Enchanted Sith ] I saw Factory Girl in the movies and I recently purchased it. I think the movie was well done. You had the opportunity to get inside all the characters heads. It wasn't like most movies when its all about the main character. The way Warhol took control of Edie and then Edie falling in love with Dylan was just well played. You also got the chance to sympathize with all three. Warhol for being so sick and demented, but obviously in love. Edie who just wanted to live a normal life, but was obviously screwed up, and Dylan who feel in love with a girl who was completely helpless. They tie into this story so well. Also, you need to be open minded for this movie. Some people won't appreciate it, you have to have an acquired taste for it. I would recommend it to anyone. I enjoyed it!

• [Katrina ] The movie Factory Girl was amazing!!! It had just the right amount of sensuality and drama. I enjoyed how the film did not go over board with either one. I am going to buy it a.s.a.p!!! And of course we loved the gorgeous Hayden and Sienna in the film.

• [Dorothy ] I have just received Factory Girl for the first time today and i have to see i truly found it a fasincating story on the 60's and what life was like. Sienna Miller, Guy Pearce and Hayden Christensen brought their characters to the screen and you could feel the depth of their character's troubles. i wished that Hayden had longer screen time but i was just happy to see him in another role, he lives on, lol! Strong story line and wonderful colours of sets. Well recommanded for any Hayden fan!

• [Daisy ] Oh my god! Factory was so amazing. Especially under the circumstances i was in. [something i'd rather tell when asked. Don't worry nothing sexual haha] I watched it in my friends basement... didn't really blink much, so didn't miss it anything really. Hayden was so amazing. Sienna, i have to say, i don't really like her, from what i've heard. But in this movie she was phenominal. This was the first movie i saw her in, and she was amazing as well. But hayden. Wow, over the top haha. So beautiful. i had tears when the scene of sienna and him talking and in a way arguing and he says goodbye to her. I was like oh my god! Anyways whoever hasn't seen this movie.. PLEASE RENT IT. F*CK BUY IT. you'll love it enough to want to buy it and keep it forever. You won't look back at that receipt and return it. Later on, more like the next day, we weren't under those circumstances i had mentioned before, and it was so beautiful. All the actors are amazingly great. Please, watch it =], you'll love it, trust me.

• [Helen ] After everything I had read or seen about this movie, I thought it would be some arti/farti story with a good chance to see Hayden in something completely...."shallow". Was I wrong!!! I was drawn in to a REAL story of beautiful girl been drawn in and spat out by society. It is the TRUE story of drugs. It is the TRUE story of being used. It is the TRUE story of people sucking everything from you to get what you want, and when your bled dry...they drop you on the floor and step over you to the next one. (and there always is a next!). It was all the little tiny secrets that society holds, blown up like a tornado! And the people in the shadows who really did care and never left, but she never really heard them. As far as Haydens acting goes. He is the only actor I know that you don't need to look at the screen to get the whole picture, just look at his eyes. His eyes say so much, they are incredible. I don't know of any actor that can do that. They are intense (his eyes) and sell the story. I wondered why I was so very drawn to his acting in ROTS (besides the obvious). His eyes speak a thousand words. Great movie!!!Im surprised at my own reaction.

• [Laura ] I thought Factory Girl was a pretty good movie. I'm not one to like "sex, drugs and rock n' roll" movies, but I liked how this movie was done in showing the journey of the character of Edie Sedgwick. On of the most important things a film needs to do is make us care about the characters involved and root for them. In that case, this film succeeded in having us root for Sienna's character and Hayden's as well, and wanting them to end up together. As far as the performances go, I thought Hayden was amazing and Sienna was great too. I don't know much about the history of these people, so I cannot say how historically accurate it is, but it was still an emotional journey to take. A lot of people have also mentioned the sex scene and drug use in the film. I don't think it was too over the top. I thought the love scene was tasteful, and showed the caring and deep feelings in the relationship. As far as the drug use goes, I believe it was there to show a more accurate picture of the time and place these events occurred in, and I don't think it was that bad, it could have been worse. Overall, it was a good movie. Not the best ever, but still an interesting diversion.

[Brooke] In Factory Girl, i think he was brilliant, captured the role very well, he is very talented, i didnt like the sex scene well, because i love hayden, but other than that, very well done.
