Jen’s lobby encounter at the Hotel Gansevoort – July 21, 2006

I tried to remember this encounter the best I could.This was my first time meeting him so it’s a little fuzzy!

When I awoke in the morning, I looked out the window and saw several Bullrun cars below and right away that excited me. My friend and I decided that we would do a little shopping in New York City that day since this was my first time here. It was very hot and humid so it was a bit miserable walking around. We decided to go back to the hotel and cool off. Just then we walked in and saw Hayden checking in. We both had to look again. I was like ‘OH MY GOD that’s HAYDEN!’ She was like ‘stay calm’. So I tried my best to be as calm as I could possibly be. Hayden walked towards the elevator with his driver Steve, dropped his key card while on his way and then went up.

Now that we knew Hayden was there (Tove let my friend and I know the night before that he was coming in on Friday), we decided to get something to eat on the rooftop before the Bullrun kickoff party.

Before I begin, whilest checking in Hayden was wearing a long green shirt, white somewhat tight pants, Puma shoes and a black hat. At my encounter everything was the same, except his hat. He was wearing a white Bullrun hat.

Unfortunately, the picture with Hayden and I did not turn out. I went to get my pictures developed and it wasn’t in there.

I had to go and ask the concierge for something, and noticed Hayden and Steve talking to him! So I was like shit should I go up to him? I stood there for a minute thinking and said to myself f*ck it, I’ll never have the chance again. So I said ‘Hayden, Hayden’ and he turned around… (Gah those beautiful eyes) We shook hands and I said ‘Hi, I’m Jen from Go Team Christensen.Com and Desiring Hayden.Net. You’ve heard of that right?’And he went ‘oh YEAH!’ I said ‘God I think you’re amazing, and he said ‘thank you,thank you!’ I asked if I could take a picture with him and he said of course and I gave my shitty camera to Steve. Hayden put his arm around me and asked ‘are you from around here?’ I said ‘no I’m from Ohio’ to which he replied ‘oh that’s cool.’

I asked him what projects he was doing next and he said he didn’t know yet. I told him we’re all hoping for Poker Night and he said ‘me too!’
I told him that I’ve been a fan since 1999 and that I love Life as a House, Higher Ground and all his movies basically. He again thanked me.
I made sure to let him know that no matter what happens all of us at Desiring Hayden.Net and the forum support and love him.
His face just lit up and he gave me a huge smile and another thank you. For a minute we just stood there quietly and started laughing and Hayden said ‘oh awkward!’ (in a funny way) I told him that I admire him and that he means alot to me, he hugged me again. While he was hugging me, I told him not be weirded out by me because I run Desiring Hayden.Net and he said ‘Oh nooo…I would never think that!’

So then I said ‘I would love to get some pictures for Go Team Christensen.Com and Desiring Hayden.Net of you, Tove, Peter and your cars. Pia thought it would be a great idea to do this for the sites.’ He said ‘oh of course.’ I told him Pia told me to call the front desk and ask them to connect me to his brother’s room and Hayden asked ‘when did you contact him?’ I said ‘earlier today but he was gone’ to which Hayden replied ‘oh yeah he is in Connecticut fixing up his car.’ He said ‘hmmm,let’s do the pictures tomorrow, yeah tomorrow before the race.’ and I said ‘excellent!’

Hayden said he had to go and he held out his arms to hug me; ‘Well we can catch up again.’ ‘I’m going to the kickoff party tonight’ I said, and Hayden responded ‘Oh ok well we’ll catch up there too!’ I was thinking holy shit! So he asked ‘are you going in?’ and I answered ‘yeah, I’m having food on the rooftop’ and he let me in the elevator first then he and Steve followed. I stood there as calm as I could. I turned to Steve and introduced myself ‘oh hey I’m Jen’ and he said ‘Hi I’m Steve’ and Hayden said ‘Oh I’m sorry this is my friend Steve.’ So then we hit the 7th floor and Hayden said ‘I’ll see you soon’ and Steve; ‘bye’. I replied with ‘bye guys’. Hayden ended up walking the wrong way when he stepped off the elevator. It was cute!!!
