Bullrun 2006: First Encounter with Tove Christensen

Jen’s Tove encounter at the Hotel Gansevoort-July 20, 2006

This day was complete hell for me! Both of my flights were delayed, didn’t eat anything almost all day and arrived in New York 6 hours late! So I felt & looked like crap!!

I finally arrived in New York city around 8:00pm took a cab to the Hotel Gansevoort where I was greeted by two of my friends Maria and Val. We decided to get some food since I hadn’t eaten in almost 8 hours, so we decided that we would go up to hotel’s roof bar for food and drinks.

After a while we saw Tove and Peter walk in. They were going back and forth talking to everyone on and off. Maria suggested I go and introduce myself and I said ‘no, no I don’t want to bother him’. After some convincing she said let’s do it and said “Tove”? He said “yes”? With a huge smile. This is Jen who is creating your Team Christensen website” Big smile as he shook my hand and asked how I got in contact with Pia. I said she contacted me through Desiring Hayden and Tove said “Oh cool”!

Maria asked him what he thought of the website and Tove said it looked awesome, thanked me about 4 times for doing it. I said thank you for allowing me to do it. Maria asked where’s Hayden” and he said, “He’ll be here tomorrow. I asked him if they were staying at the hotel and he said yes. We told him we’d love to take some pictures of the team for the benefit of the sites. He replied, “oh sure, we’re going to be in Connecticut tomorrow doing stuff with the cars and we will probably get back late afternoon”. We said, Okay, we didn’t want to bother you but we saw you here and wanted to say hi” He said, “Okay, nice to meet you and thanks again!”

The rest of the night we couldn’t help looking at him & Peter, after a while we ended up hanging out & getting our pictures taken with some Bullrun drivers and we really got along with Gas Monkey. We talked & hung out with him each time we saw him! That guy is awesome and so hilarious!

Tove was so nice and a bit shy. Even more shy than Hayden which surprised us. It was such a great adventure.
