TIFF 2010: Images And Interview Footage For Brad Anderson’s VANISHING ON 7TH STREET
One of two alumni returning to the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival, Brad Anderson returns with Vanishing On 7th Street. Once again embracing genre conventions while also turning them on their head, Anderson promises another high concept thriller with this one and for a taste has released a good sized gallery of stills as well as a lengthy EPK reel with the stars talking about the process and appeal of making the film. And it’s gotta be said: Hayden Christensen takes a lot of heat thanks to his lazy drawl of a voice but the guy is both smart and articulate when he talks about his work. Check it out below. Source

According to Hollywood Reporter.com Vanishing on 7th Street will be at this year’s Toronto Film Festival.
“Vanishing on 7th Street,” from Herrick Entertainment, was written by Anthony Jaswinski and stars Jacob Latimore and Taylor Groothuis.
The festival will unveil its Canadian film lineup on Tuesday.
The Toronto International Film Festival is set to run from Sept. 9 to 19.

Director Brad Anderson has a great deal of experience working within the horror genre with a production in the “Masters of Horror” series and Anderson has also directed the well received The Machinist. His latest film is a Herrick Entertainment production entitled Vanishing on 7th St. This film has an all-star cast which includes Hayden Christensen (Jumper), Thandie Newton (2012), and John Leguizamo (Land of the Dead). This film was originally titled The Darkness and was slated to release in 2010; now, the film has been pushed back a year and the production crew has settled on a much more unique name (UHM). Source

File this under confirmed films for TIFF 2010 that have yet to be announced. A strong contender for a Midnight Madness slot, Brad Anderson’s Vanishing on 7th Street will perhaps have its North American, and most likely world premiere this September. Anderson who presented The Machinist at the fest several years back, usually shuttles between television work and feature films – with his last pic being the train murder thriller Transsiberian. According to John Leguizamo article Vanishing will in fact premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival. Since this is Toronto, I think Hayden will attend, unless he’s working on a film or has another event to attend. Fingers crossed!

Besides other film projects in the works, he’ll be at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival to premiere “Vanishing on 7th Street,” in which he plays a film projectionist who finds people starting to disappear all around him. Source

Originally, Vanishing on 7th Street is described as more of a psychological thriller about these five survivors who are fighting to stay alive “while grappling with the meaning of existence,” since they realize they may in fact be the last people on earth. Sounds like a Stephen King-inspired thriller about some people trapped in this one location, which reminds me a bit of The Mist. I hope this is much better than that film (I didn’t love it), but with Brad Anderson directing, I don’t think we have to worry. Vanishing on 7th Street stars Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton and John Leguizamo, but doesn’t have a US distributor or release date.

Yes, that Brad Anderson, the one who did the brilliant film The Machinist is back with a post apocalyptic drama which looks like it has a noirish feel. It stars Hayden Christensen and John Leguizamo among others and sounds utterly awesome.
A mysterious, seemingly global blackout yields countless populations to simply vanish, leaving only their clothes and possessions behind. A small handful of survivors band together in a dimly-lit tavern on 7th Street, struggling to combat the apocalyptic horror. Realizing they may in fact be the last people on earth, the darkness hones in on them alone.
